Wedding Trend of the Season - Share Food

May 24, 2018

As we come to our last wedding of the season here at Racine & settle down for a 3 month break before we get back into it in September, I have been thinking about all the amazing weddings we've had. Each one different for many reasons, music, people, food, vibe, decorations and weather as well as the personal touch that each couple brings to their own wedding.

We have seen so many different styles and ideas and it's been so fun for us. But in all this as with every season we have seen some really definite trends emerge & this season it was all about the share plate. With couples tending towards a way more relaxed feel; from dress code, to eschewing bridal tables and sitting with their guests, the casual vibe is definitely what people want and because of this more casual vibe there's been a shift from focussing on OTT details that no one really cares about to providing a great food and wine experience that is convivial, relaxed & all about sharing, just like having a fabulous party in your house or treating your friends to an amazing dinner at your favourite restaurant. Food is a big focus for the modern wedding and share plates are what its all about.

So from the canapé hour right up until the late night snacks share food has featured heavily on the menus of many couples this season. We've had grazing tables of cheese, charcuterie, fruit, crudités, dips and breads for canapés, then beautiful charcuterie and antipasto boards as entrees greeting the guests as they sit down, followed on with huge plates of slow roasted lamb, salmon en papillote (baked in a paper), bowls of crispy potatoes, plates of colourful salads & baskets of bread. We've hardly seen a plated dessert, it's been dessert tables, dessert boards and dessert canapés & it doesn't stop there, many couples have opted for grazing tables late at night to soak up the drinks hot fresh pizza bar or tasty late night ham bars to give them dance floor stamina.

It's been such a big shift & we love it. We have had a ball coming up with new exciting ways to display all our beautiful food and new exciting ideas for our share plates. Most importantly we make sure that all our food tastes incredible and the guests have certainly not been disappointed judging by the feedback.

Whatever you decide to do for your wedding or function, Racine is the place that offers the whole package, beautiful venue, amazing service, great value, help and support from our team all the way through and a completely relaxing and effortless experience for our couples (we do everything for you) and last but not least some of the best food you will find in any wedding venue anywhere. After all we approach weddings from a restaurant background, food is what we do - we're not just a pretty venue built to do weddings, we are hospitality professionals who happen to be lucky enough to do weddings as well. All our food is produced in our award winning restaurant and our famous organic bakery, so food is our game & we deliver plated, shared or canapés.
